I'm really sorry for missing fathers day two years in a row. I hope this letter will make up for it. Its hard for me not to be there. I am your little girl and I love you oh so very much. This post might be extremely long but its worth it. I was reading the book Broken Things to Mend by Jeffrey R. Holland and on the section about fathers this poem is there.
Only a dad, with a tired face,
Coming home from the daily race,
Bringing little of gold or fame,
To show how well he has played the game,
But glad in his heart that his own rejoice
To see him come, and to hear his voice.
Only a dad, with a brood of four,
One of ten million men or more.
Plodding along in the daily strife,
Bearing the whips and the scorns of life,
With never a whimper of pain or hate,
For the sake of those who at home await.
Only a dad, neither rich nor proud,
Merely one of the surging crowd
Toiling, striving from day to day,
Facing whatever may come his way,
Silent, whenever the harsh condemn,
And bearing it all for the love of them.
Only a dad, but he gives his all
To smooth the way for his children small,
Doing, with courage stern and grim,
The deeds that his father did for him.
This is the line that for him I pen,
Only a dad, but the best of men.
Now, what you've taught me about love. You love mom so much and your family so much. Everyday you sacrifice a lot of things just so that we can have the things you want us to have. (sorry if I can't find the right way to put this) The Mormon Message "Love her Mother" (http://www.lds.org/pages/mormon-messages?lang=eng#love-her-mother) is so special to me because you have taught me who to look for in a future husband and who to look for in myself.

So dad, what I am trying to say is that I love you so much for every little thing you do. I'm a pretty big dork and you accept me for all my sides and weird corks. I'm so glad that you hold the priesthood. You are a great example for me, our family and many people who see what you do everyday. Its every little girls dream to have a father like you.. my dream came true.
You'll do great things kid. Love you.
Love, Katie.
